Jason Sanders
”Life is a never ending road, and unless one knows the way, it is easy tog et lost on it."

Jason Sanders was lost. Not in the literal sense of the word; he knew exactly where he was, geographically speaking. He always knew where he was, even if he was blindfolded, knocked out, drugged, and carried around in the back of mule pulled cart. It was one of the many, many gifts that he had been bestowed with in his short life, one that had served him well many a time before. But now... Now that gift had failed him. It had failed him in a way that he had never expected, a way he had never even thought to prepare for. He was lost, lost on the infinitely branching road of life. He didn’t know where to go. He didn't know what to do. All he knew was his destination. Or, what he hoped was his destination. He wasn’t exactly clear on that either, although he did know more about it than he did about how to get there. It confusing, how little he understood what was going on. It scared him. But, at the same time, it gave him strength. Strength to push past the fear, the uncertainty, the pain. Strength to keep moving onwards. To keeping fighting. To change. He had purposefully not gone back to his apartment. After the incident at the mall, Jason had had time to think. Time to work out what he needed to do. It had taken him hours, but he finally figured it out.

He knew, deep down inside of himself, that he would not, could not change on his own. Not fully. Not in the way he needed to. But, if he make that first step, that crucial beginning, and if he could do it alone, he knew. He knew he would be able to accept her help then. He only had to succeed. That had been two weeks ago. He had barely eaten since then. He had not slept. His appearance showed that. His white hair, once brilliantly clean, now covered in dirt, and caked with blood that was not his own. His clothes once pristine and neat, were now nothing more than rags, torn a dozen times over by the biting, tearing claws of the monsters that hunted his kind. Two weeks of simply existing. Two whole weeks, and all he had to show for it was a growing collection of scars, and a disheveled appearance that would have made any homeless man ashamed. Look at yourself Jason... just two short weeks out on your own, and you’re already in such a state. You really are pathetic, aren’t you? He was. He truly was. He hadn’t even made a single change within himself since he had left. He was still the same person. The same arrogant, sarcastic, hateful person. But he couldn’t give up now. Not when he still had a chance. A chance to do this on his own. A chance to be both who he was, and who he wanted to be.

With that thought came a will. And with that will came strength. And, using that strength, Jason stood. He stood, both literally and metaphorically, against the struggles of life. His dirty clothes rustled, the newspaper he has been using as a bed crinkling as he lifted himself over the dirt and grime of the alley he had chosen as his temporary home. He would not give in. He would do this, alone. Or not at all.

A soft swishing noise was heard as a small child wandered into the alley way, a bright red balloon tied around the thin wrist. A bright smile was etched across its features. The thin eyebrows arched to a serious look, the green eyes held laughter in them. Slowly the boy's smile turned down as he noticed the grimy once white haired man. The colour of the blood was a bit shocking. Slowly the child blinked and then wandered closer to the fullbringer with a curious look, the green eyes widened more. But the smile once more returned full force of it. The small balloon bobbed with his hand. "You look lost." The small boy spoke evenly and then blinked slowly. The small smile was kind, there wasn't homeless people here that often. Most of the time they were lost. Most people saw the boy in different forms because it was a type of creature that showed people something they wouldn't take as menacing. He was a type of oracle that never seemed to be aging. The wise green eyes remained warm and cheerful as the balloon came untied. The small boy leaned towards Jason. Soon enough the balloon was tied around Jason's wrist instead of his own.

The smile never once faltered as he touched the dirt and grime. "Very lost." The comment was soft as the small boy stepped back, his messed hair hanging in a fringe above the wide emerald eyes. Looking up to the thin slice of the sky above their heads the young boy smiled wistfully before stepping back slowly "Follow the balloon, it will bring you where you desire Mr.Sanders." The voice held a light note to it. The boy was aware that the lanky white haired man never once told him his name, it was something people didn't know about to oracle. He often found people he knew needed the help the most and showed them the way to their freedom and redemption. The boy looked out into the street.

One last time the green eyes were flicked back to Jason, he offered the gentle smile again. "Be safe!" And with that the little boy was darting out of the alley way giggling as a large shadow moved away from the entrance of the alley to follow after a boy with a low sigh. It seemed like the oracle found another person who he felt obligated to help.
