Maes Tueur De-Versaille [Second Division Vice-Captain]
Character
Name: Maes Tueur De-Versaille
Nickname: Le domme de mort, Lord Maes Tueur (inherited), Baron Maes Tueur De-Versaille (gifted)
Position: Vice-Captain of Second Division
Age: 28/ 660
Birth Date: 5th August, 1352
Gender: Male
Non-Zanpakutō Weapon(s): Large amounts of throwing knives, a rspier, a short chain(for disarming opponent or strangling them), glasses designed to act like a sniper scope of varying distances.
Personality: Maes has two very different personalities that clash severely with one another. The first is the one that he has whilst not in combat or in a serious situation. He seems rather light-headed, always seen smiling and engaging his other squad mates in conversation. He acts extremely daft, and often just silly. Many people are weirded out when they first see him, wondering how a guy like that got into the job as Vice-captain of the Second Division. He doesn’t really care what they say about him however, and still smiles. It’s extremely rare to see him without a smile. However, underneath all this jokey and bubbly nature, he’s an extremely dedicated man, often staying overtime to help aid the Seireitei. His loyalty is well-known, as well as his willingness to do anything, even die, to protect it.
All this changes when he gets into combat or is sent on a mission. Firstly, he mainly stops talking, clamming up tighter than a vice. His actions seem graceful and extremely skilled, like he was born for his job. When he does speak, his voice loses all jokeyness that it normally has. He sounds serious and commanding, as if merely be being there respect should be given to him and his order should be followed. He doesn’t seem arrogant, but he also seems like he knows that he’s worth his job. Seeing as how he wears a mask over the lower half of his face, most people wouldn’t notice, but he has only smiled on a mission three times.
Physical Appearance: Maes is a very handsome young man with short, black hair. His hair carries on into sideburns which connect at the bottom, framing his face in a chinstrap. It’s not thick enough to be called a beard, and even if it was he has no upper lip hair. His face seems rather toned, neither thin nor fat. His hair is spiky and end in a very characteristic forelock. His eyes are a brownish green, not quite hazel. Standing a respectable 6’3’’, he’s taller than many of his subordinates and even besting his captain in terms of height.
Clothes: Maes wears the average shinigami uniform, with the Vice-captain badge tied onto his right arm. Around his neck, he wears a bunched up facemask which he pulls up over his nose and mouth whilst on missions or in a fight. It allows for breathing and talking, but it acts like a gasmask, helping to prevent poisoning from the air. However, this is no regular facemask. Specifically designed 25 years ago by the then Vice-captain Yubi of the Research and Development Institute,it allows him to modify his voice just by applying a small amount of Reiryoku to it. This gives the benefit of acting as a voice caster, allowing it to seem like it’s not actually him talking.
Over his robe, he wears two crossing belts, both lapsed over opposite shoulders. The belts are covered in throwing knives. There are around 10 on each belt, causing his appearance to be in sheer contrast to his personality. A rapier, which everyone assumes is his zanpakuto, is worn in a black linen belt around his waist, easily pullable, with a chain dangling next to it. All in all, he looks like a one man army.
Fighting Theme Song: A Madder Sky
Normal Theme Song: Servant of Evil - Len Kagamine
Born in 13th century France, Maes was the son of a prominent lord of the court. He was raised in Versaille during his childhood where he was trained to be the best servant to the king that he could possibly be. However, his personality was never very desirable for a soon-to-be lord. He was taught how to be serious and severe, which never quite sat right with him. He saw the world as so much more beautiful than his tutors made it out to be, and knew that it was wrong to just see everything in black and white. However, one day he was allowed to come into town when the king did a tour. He saw the majestic and radiant form that was the monarch, and he instantly felt wowed. He wanted to meet him for many years, and finally he was given the chance when he was 14.
As a kid, he’d had the innate ability to sneak around the house completely undetected. He didn’t know what it was about the way that he walked or his presence, but he was often able to sneak up on people without them noticing him. Finally, he was able to control it and do it when he wanted to. He had sneaked into the royal palace one night, hoping to see the king. On his belt was a small wooden blade, unable to do anything but defend. He finally arrived in the Dining Room where they were all eating dinner, and entered. For a few seconds, it seemed like he was completely invisible, but then they finally saw him. Assuming he was an assassin, the guards all attacked him. Blocking the first few attacks, he knocked a lot of the guards unconscious with his bare hands. Within a five minute fight, he’d bested the entire guard fight and had finally tracked the King down.
As he walked towards him, the king started pulling his own sword out, ready to protect himself but then... Maes got down on his knee, bowing his head in respect of his monarch
“My lord, let me be your blade. I ask for your favor, and give myself in return.” the King was surprised, his eyes growing large. This man had broken into his palace, knocked out his guards and was now offering himself as a servent?
“How can I believe that you actually want to be my servant? You just knocked out my entire guard force, you could be here to try and kill me!” Maes looked up, with his eyes in a cold stare
“If I wanted to kill you and your guards, you’d already be dead. If I went around killing people, there’d be none of you left.” At that, the King just laughed.
“I like your spunk, now let’s see if you can live up to what you claim.”
Within four weeks, Maes was the unofficial court assassin, taking out anyone who could or would cause a problem to the king. He might have been known as a contract killer, but contract killers generally got paid. Within two years, he became a close friend of the king, and he was given the entire town of Versailles as his own, becoming an official baron of France. All the while, still dealing with whatever business the King sent his way. Eventually, he was sent on a mission to England to deal with someone who appeared to be drawing an army together in preparation to invade France. Sent with a small fishing boat to the English coast, he swore that he’d take out the potential threat even if it cost him his life. Thankfully, he’d been taught a lot of english in his childhood as most lords were supposed to act as diplomats as well as semi-rulers, so he was able to speak enough to talk with the locals. Passing off as a diplomat who wanted to talk with the up-and-coming General Brian Smith, he found out where he was stationed and went there one dreary night wearing a large cloak to obscure his true identity from those who would know his origins.
As he entered the camp, the moon was hidden by thick, black rainclouds and he could hear the sound of the crashing sea. He couldn’t see the cliffs, but from the sound it was clear they weren’t that far away. He was able to stay hidden under his cloak, blending into shadows. A very unlucky man went around the camp, moving to the horses’ stable. Maes threw a knife through the man’s brain, killing him cleanly. As the knife was clogging up the cut, he was able to steal the man’s clothes before the blood got onto them. Unlocking the doors to the stables, he let the horses run free, causing a massive distraction that allowed him to get to the General’s tent. He found someone in there, and assumed that it was the General. Breaking his cover, he pulled his chain out and choked the man. At first he struggled, but as life left his body he finally went limp and Maes removed the chain. No blood, no fuss. He assumed he was fine, but then the moon came out. Shining an awful yellow light over the camp, he could finally see completely. The dead man lying next to him looked vaguely like the description of the commander, but in the light he could tell a few differences, such as the age. The General was supposed to be in his early fourties and the man he’d killed looked around 18.
“MY SON!!” a voice cried out from the opening of the tent, and Maes looked up to see the actual general standing there. He saw an entire squad of guards behind him, and Maes only had one knife left. Pulling it out and holding it in his hand for a few seconds, the General rounded on him
“Who the hell are you?”
“You’ll never know.” Maes said, before throwing the knife. It sliced cleanly into the General’s throat, killing him within seconds. The guards turned on him and Maes could barely get out of the tent in time.
Running through the night, he was truly glad that he’d let the horses out. Otherwise they would have caught him within seconds. He looked back over his shoulder and saw at least 15 guards chasing him. He grinned, feeling jubilant and oh, so sure that they wouldn’t catch him. Then he looked forwards again and had to screech to a halt. He was at the edge of the cliff, and below him he could see the crashing and stormy seas. He turned around and saw he was surrounded. He knew his only choice.
“Surrender, scum. There’s nowhere to run.” one of the guards shouted out. Maes merely smiled to him and laughed. The lightning seemed to crack behind him as he spoke his final words.
“English Fool,” he said, putting his feet against the absolute cliffs edge “, who the hell said anything about running?” he leant back and fell over the edge, before smashing against the rocks below. He died the way he lived, in proud service to the King.
Waking up in the Rukon district of the Soul Society, Maes knew what had happened. He could remember the pain as his brain had smashed against a rock. Yet, he was alive. How was this possible? Furthermore, where was he? He looked outside and could see a huge district, that looked run down but certainly not abandoned. His mind tried to run over where he could be that looked like this. His mind couldn’t come up with anything, but he couldn’t think a solution. He stepped outside and asked someone. This person was wearing a black robe and had a massive sword on his back.
“You’re in the Rukongai, mate. Essentially, you died.” Maes was shocked at the sheer bluntness of the man, but he had expected as much. After all, no-one could fall that far onto jagged rocks and hope to survive. He asked if he was in heaven, and the man just laughed.
“You could call it that, I suppose. I have a few hours and it looks like you need a look around. Come on, I’ll give you the tour.” Maes agreed and followed after the man. In the next few hours, he learnt about how this world worked, the Seireitei, the Gotei 13 and the captain commander. However, he hadn’t been shown the Seireitei yet. He asked, but the man refused.
“Only academy students and full fledged Soul Reapers are allowed there. Sorry mate, but you’re not strong enough to get in there.”
From that day forward, Maes was determined to prove himself worthy of the Seireitei. He hated seeing others as better than him, and saw it as his duty to himself to get strong enough to join the ranks of the Seireitei. Whilst alive he had prided himself on being able to hit whatever goal someone set for him, but to have one denied to him, that was enough of a persuasion to set a fire under his ass. He worked hard training on his own, and then, within six months he applied to the Academy.
Passing the entrance exam, he took his place amongst the ranks of the students. That was where he met Kai Byakuran. Kai’s attitude and personality caused them to hit it off from the gate and quickly became good friends. He stood by his side, offering to protect him through any challenge they might hit, even Kai’s parents’ death. However, despite how similar they were, they were also vastly different. Maes was extremely skilled in both throwing weapons and Hakudo, loving the feel of his boot against the side of the instructors head. He was even, a few times, able to beat the crap out of their instructor. Unlike many of the people he was in the class with, he had had plenty of real life experience and had versed things that WEREN’T just filled with straw. At the same time, he suffered a great disadvantage. His zanpakuto wasn’t as large as any of the other students, and trying to use it in Zanjutsu would have been sheer suicide. However, due to connections that he had made during his years in the Rukon district, he had been able to get a regular rapier.
The instructors had never seen it before. He, someone who was using a regular weapon, was fighting on par with their best Zanjutsu students. His quick steps and ability to use the opponents’ strength to their disadvantage allowed him to trick others into defeating themselves. Whilst others, like Kai, fought with actual strength and physical ability, he always fought with speed and grace, which led to the opponent getting annoyed at the fight. The other person’s annoyance was also a weapon used to great effect by him. there was ONE Serious downpoint though. He was terrible at fighting with Kido. Every time he tried to cast a Kido, it exploded in his hands. The instructor told him that if he didn’t at least summon one kido properly he would fail. Finally, he just snapped and turned his hands toward the instructor.
“Bakkudo number 6, GEKI!!!” a bright red light glowed around the instructor, and he found he couldn’t move
“DON’T CHALLENGE ME, I CAN REACH ANY LEVEL.” Under any other circumstances, Maes would surely have been kicked out of the academy for attacking a teacher. However, the sheer prowess that he showed shocked the teacher, who could do little more than laugh
“You’re going to go far, kid.”
It had been six years, but he was finally graduating. As he stood on the day of graduation next to Kai, who he had come to see as his little brother, he swore that no matter what the future would throw at the pair, that Maes would protect Kai, just to make sure that he was never sad again. However, they were pulled away when they were assigned to squads. Maes couldn’t handle being assigned to Squad ?? and knew that his true place, if he was to protect the Seireitei, was in Squad 2. He walked up to the then Captain and knelt down, bowing his head as he had done what seemed so long ago.
“Please, let me be your blade captain.” the captain smiled and his words seemed to echo those that the King had once said
“I like your spunk kid. Let’s see if you live up to what you claim.”
After around 200 years of hard work, Maes managed to rise to the rank of Vice-Captain, fighting on par with his master himself. He had long since managed to hit Shikai and had met his Zanpakuto Spirit. Their relationship was, at times, rocky but Maes endeavoured through and continued his job. As part of his promotion, he was offered to control the assassination branch directly. Although his decisions could still be overridden by his master. He flourished in this position and often managed to lead by example. However, things never last. As the captain fell to an enemy’s blade, they had to find a new captain. Initially, Maes was offered the job but he turned it down
“I am not the one to play Master, I am but a servant.” The Gotei conceded his point and picked someone else, a young up-and-coming soul Reaper called Kasumi. Kasumi brought out the best in Maes, as he saw her as a true Master, someone who he could and would follow through hell and back. They worked together for many years and Maes is still willing to fight with her through any kind of darkness, even if others would call him a Servant of Evil.
Zanpakutō
Zanpakutō spirit: Maes’ Zanpakuto Spirit is called Tengokuto. Its form is a young woman with long red hair, matching the handle of his zanpakuto. She’s extremely thinly clad, which causes Maes to feel extremely embarrassed every time he visits her. Her name is Tengo. Her chest is clad in a slave-like chain shirt, with the chains congregating in the center of her shirt and fading into a worm-like dragon with gigantic wings. It can often be seen hovering behind her and talking very cruelly about her like she was an idiot. She seems a bit more adult than Maes’ usual self, often sounding flirty. Kuto, the flying worm, in contrast has an extremely serious and often rudely blunt personality.
Inner world: Maes’ inner world seems to be positioned in a small town, with old french style buildings on both sides of the street. The sky above is clear with a very clear distinction down the middle. On one side, the sky above is a pure blue wonder, with the sun coming very clearly into view and shining down its light upon half of the street. The other half is overcast with huge black clouds which lightning and thunder periodically erupt out of the clouds like a light-show of horror. Each thunderclap is as loud as a cannon and always seems to be extremely close no matter where he is. Amongst the clouds there is a gigantic red-moon, always in the full phase. There is a spot in the middle of the street where he could stand and be hit by both radiant sunlight and torrential rain and lightning. However, the amount of the sky covered by each area changes depending on Maes’ mood. If he’s angry or depressed, the storming sky will cover more of the area, but if he’s calm or happy, the shining day will cover more. It is said that when Maes is going to die, the moon will completely eclipse the sun.
Shikai
Shikai name: Tengokuto
Sealed form: In its Sealed Form, Tengokuto is extremely small. It’s around six inches long with a black hilt that measures around 2 inches long. The hilt is just long enough for him to hold in three fingers, where he’ll throw it at the enemy. Attached to the hilt is an extremely long chain that he keeps in one of his pockets. Unlike most Soul Reapers who wear their weapon in their belt, he wears Tengokuto in a small sheath in his pocket, next to its chain. Due to this fact, most people assume the Rapier that’s sat on his belt is his Zanpakuto.
The blade itself makes up the other 4’ of the blade. The edges are serrated and it eventually comes to a point that’s slightly wider than most points. This is so that it can be thrown and pulled out of an opponent much easier. There are three small holes along the centre of the blade, but these are merely for decoration. The main way that he wields the blade is wrapping the chain around one of his hands, and throwing it with the other hand. Thankfully, he’s ambidextrous so it doesn’t matter which hand he uses it with.
Shikai: The first thing that Maes must do to call out the Shikai form is to get the entire chain out of his pocket. Although he does usually have it out of his pocket during a fight with it anyway, he can’t just activate it from within his clothing, or else he’d end up ripping his robe off. He IS able to do it, but it would end up ripping his robe apart so it’s only a last choice scenario if he really can’t remove it in time.
The entire chain and blade glows with a deep red light, with a crackling light emanating around it. The blade itself widens and grows longer. and when the red light finally fades, Tengokuto has turned into an extremely long whip that, unless used to strike or use another one of its abilities, rolls up into a small ball which can be unravelled and slammed into an opponent in a moment’s notice. The entire whip is a deep brown, almost maroon, color, and the end finishes in a triple pronged wedge that looks a lot like a broken fuse.
Call out phrase: Bring the storm, Tengokuto
Abilities/techniques:
Bankai
Bankai name: Tengokuto Jigoku
Bankai description: As if it has a will of its own, Tengokuto twists around and starts to run up his right arm, completely wrapping around it. It then starts glowing again, engulfing his entire arm in its light. When it finally dies down, his hand is engulfed in a black metallic shell, making it look like a high-caliber rifle. There are four holes, each which fire different types of ammunition. Each different type of ammunition activates a different lightning bolt mark, stopping the others from being used that turn

Fighting Theme Song: A Madder Sky
Normal Theme Song: Servant of Evil - Len Kagamine
- Lyrics:
You are my princess
I am only your servant
We are twins that destiny has played a cruel jest on
Even if the whole world turns against you
I'll become the only evil that is on your side
Our fates were decided on the day we came
Bells of the church tolling their blessings the same
Our elders were selfish for some reasons
Thus we grew apart with the passing seasons
If every creature alive hates you
I'll be there waiting, always true
So please keep smiling like you always do
None that keeps you laughing as myself, had I knew!
You are my princess
I am only your servant
We are twins that destiny has played a cruel jest on
Even if the whole world turns against you
I'll become the only evil that is on your side
I came to visit a beautiful country
There, a girl of green is what I happened to see
She was kind with a bright smile and grace
Her image from my mind I could not efface
However if my princess wishes her gone
This order will not be something long drawn
Only one question do I have of this
Why, for the first time, are my tears not of bliss?
You are my princess
I am only your servant
We are twins that destiny has forced suffering on
"Today brioche will be served with your tea"
The only gesture you had was a coy laugh
Soon the people may come to punish us
While we deserve it, you have no need to fuss
I will, to the end, fight who they send
"Please exchange our clothing, to have this war mend"
"As long as you wear this, come what will"
"No one will notice, and you they cannot kill"
"I ask you to not worry about me"
"As I said, we are twins, there's no difference to see!"
I am the princess
You became a criminal
We are twins that destiny chooses to inflict pain
If all the world believes that you are evil
Then I am evil as well, because I share your blood
There was a country with an "evil" rule
So they thought, and I say that they comprise a fool
The only person who had any say
Was my cute sister who remains free this day
If every creature alive hates you
I'll be there waiting, always true
So please keep smiling like you always do
None that keeps you laughing as myself, had I knew!
You are my princess
I am only your servant
We are twins that destiny has played a cruel jest on
Even if the whole world turns against you
I'll become the only evil that is on your side
If we are ever reborn I want you to know
That I would like to be able to be with you again

“Surrender, scum. There’s nowhere to run.” one of the guards shouted out. Maes merely smiled to him and laughed. The lightning seemed to crack behind him as he spoke his final words.
“English Fool,” he said, putting his feet against the absolute cliffs edge “, who the hell said anything about running?” he leant back and fell over the edge, before smashing against the rocks below. He died the way he lived, in proud service to the King.
Early Spirit Life:
The Academy Years:
Life in the Second Division
- Spoiler:
- Spoiler:
Maes in non-uniform whilst wielding Tengokuto
- Spoiler:
Call out phrase: Bring the storm, Tengokuto

Weaknesses: Has to hit to work, can be dodged if the opponent is fast enough (has at least one rank of speed higher than Maes)
Description: With one strike of Tengokuto, the whip unravels from its ball and sends an electric shock into whoever/whatever it hits. If touches water, hits all those unlucky enough to be caught in the water

Abilities/techniques:
