Tryout Kenji Yasutake; Kenji Yasutake Empty Re: Tryout Kenji Yasutake; Kenji Yasutake

The sun was shining out over the seireitai; Kenji had stopped in the middle of his walk and looked up. Shading his eyes from the sun and farrowed his brow slightly. It was funny how this place was so much like the world of the living. He lowered his hand and turned to walk back down the road. The memory of the battle that claimed his life was a fresh in his mind as it was from day one in Rukongai

"I know what you're thinking Kenji, no point in dwelling on the past."The hissing voice echoed in his head, Tenryu, his other half on the start of one of his lectures again. "You died an honorable death an..."Before Tenryu could continue Kenji cut him off.

"I know Tenryu...we have had this discussion before. And it was not an honorable death....the coward stabbed me from behind...Where is the honor in that?"Kenji didn't even realize that he was speaking out loud oblivious to the fact he had other shinigami staring at him with odd looks. Kenji hated the fact he could remember everything, the anguish on his father’s face as he was pulled from the pile of bodies on the blood slick battlefield.

The right hand of the lithe swordsman came to rest on the pommel of his Zanpakuto. An absent minded gesture, one he didn't realize he did. It just felt natural, he closed his eyes. Eye lids covering the onyx black orbs for a few seconds as he took a moment to calm his mind. He had no delusions of glory, nor did he want it. If it came to him so be it, he was not going to go searching for it. If it was meant for him then it will be there, he did not care any for it.

"Kenji, why do you fight? Every time i ask this question you change the subject." spirit was an inquisitive one, even though he already knew the answer. Even without hearing it from Kenji himself, This question caused Kenji to stop mid step and his head fell forward.

"Why must you ask questions you already know the answer to? I fight to protect, and when i do i fight with honor. I never attack an unarmed enemy, and when they are armed i never attack from behind."In a way it was so that the fool could see who killed him as the light dims in their eyes. So he can savor the moment, in his own little twisted way. Kenji was a cold one, and only one person had ever broken the ice. The current captain of the Second division, Kasumi Suzume. She has been the closest to seeing him for what he was under the facade he put up. Mostly to protect himself against his own memories.

"I see, as i thought...Kenji you are my kind of twisted."The hiss filled his ears and fell silent for once; he could be so talkative at times. Other times, he only spoke when in a fight. It was like Kenji always had a babysitter in his head. Always telling him he should have done this after the fact. What's the point? What's done is done and that's that. Nothing you do can change the fact.

With a quick bend of his knee, Kenji propelled himself airborne for a moment. Landing softly on the top of the wall to avoid any foot traffic. relaxing walks, that is how he cleared his mind of the day past. The paper work and everything that came with his duty was exhausting on his mind. Made his restless, and unable to stand still after. So this was very relaxing, and a nice talk never hurt. After all, Tenryu knew Kenji better than anyone...because he was the other half of Kenji's soul. Though where Kenji acts cold, Tenryu naturally was cold and ruthless. What would have made this walk even more enjoyable was if Kasumi was with him. With her, he didn't care what the topic was he would answer her questions.

By now Kenji would be training, and maybe that wasn't such a bad idea. He just needed someone to train with, and he always trained in the general training yard. This way he could aid those from other divisions should they ask for it. A single step and he flickered from sight. Shunpo was such a useful skill. Why humans couldn't use it he didn't know, it would have made his life so much more useful. When he came to a stop he was on a wall overlooking the training ground. The sounds of battle ringing in his ears, bringing up more memories. The battles won the splash of blood on his face...the weight of blood soaked clothing. Everything, enough to cause a cold smirk to cross his face, he used his right hand to adjust his uniform. All he needed was a training partner and he was set.

[ Hello, Kenji! I'm taking over Yubi's tryout for you. I apologize for the long wait you have had! ]

The training ground; the universal escape for nearly all Shinigami, a place where you could release the tensions and stresses in your body with the swing of a blade or the swoop of a fist. Tall, thick, sturdy walls encased the grounds, perhaps to better separate it from the world to create a peace of it's own. But most likely, it was to prevent kido gone astray from soaring over the area and into crowded streets. He, or it rather, didn't mind coming here at all, and enjoyed it just like many of the Shinigami. But it never quite saw what the problem was. Whenever it appeared, everyone panicked and he would always have to do so much killing... all he wanted was to eat them. And they wouldn't even let him do that.

As Kenji drew near to the grounds, the stench of blood wafted heavily in the air, a scent likely to be familiar to the hardened warrior; but there was something else, something not of the heat of battle. A terrible odor of putrid vapors... it hung over the training grounds like a nauseous cloud, and there was the faintest yellow fog clinging to the ground and walls. The mist of putrefaction moved hauntingly as if possessed by some phantom air, tightly clinging to the surroundings with unnerving maleficence. The training ground was more of a large courtyard, but it was horribly desecrated. The walls were cracked and fractured. There were even fresh craters in them, still full of bright red blood, and chunks of skulls were not far from the dents in the stone. Mutilated bodies of shinigami hung in the trees, some in pieces, others with chunks missing from them... blood was everywhere, even on the grass, forming sickly reddish clumps upon it. There had to be at least fifty bodies lying around, most of which were heaped up in a huge pile of corpses towards the center of the courtyard. What freak of nature could have possibly done this?

A fist answered that, clad in a faintly green coat of rotten skin, with holes and gangrenous gashes torn across the slowly emerging arm, forcing it's way through the heavy slabs of slaughtered flesh and severed limbs. It gave way to a powerful, tightly muscled arm. The outer bone of the forearm was partly exposed by the lack of skin or flesh as if it had been scraped off there, but the convulsions of the powerful muscles could be seen, still moving with some unnatural strength even as the tissue was being devoured by disease, consumed by rotting. The pile moved like slop, moving queasily as the figure of a warrior emerged from it's ruinous contents, with a leg caught in his maw.

His right hand reached to grasp the torn off limb at the ankle, turning it and pulling it as he chewed. Much of the leg's flesh was gone, exposing a great deal of blood; when it's head reached the muscles, it would clamp down hard upon them using it's front and bottom teeth, before tearing the entire strip of flesh away with powerful, continuous, repeating jerks and convulsions of it's powerful neck. It sniffed the leg for a moment, before dropping it; this was no monster or Hollow. It was a Shinigami!

He looked to be a man, slightly over six and a half feet tall; but he was a corpse. Scrapes, gashes, and unhealed injures were spread over his body like burns, with days of decay and rotting evident upon it's putrefied flesh. Long black hair cascaded down from it's head with a faint tinge of oily slime, and each strand seemed thin and tired, becoming less and less vibrant and more feeble as the hairs reached the back of his hips. The clothing on his upper body was gone, torn away by some massive claw, which had also left three gashes on his chest. Much of the skin was gone, exposing bone and muscle, especially along the ribs; his entire body was extremely well built, and in life, he might have even looked to be a highly ranked member of the eleventh squad. But nothing was known. This was the reanimated body of some fallen man, a zombie, gnawing on Shinigami which he had killed with his impossible strength and undead hunger.

He walked with some dulled coordination, skipping the mannerisms and traits and personality suffused with a person's stride. His walk was devoid of body language, and instead seemed very forced and instinctive, as if he were unaccustomed to it. In his left hand, he held a zanpakuto - it had no hilt guard, but this was not due to damage, it was simple the style of blade it had taken on the shape of. The handle was long and slightly curved, but the blade was a freak of nature. It had to have been at least 96" inches long. This abomination was swinging around an eight foot long katana. It's width and thickness were slightly bolder than that of the average zanpakuto, only to support it's immense length. The curvature was perfect, the hilt wrapped in glossy black leather. It's blade was stained in fresh blood and dripped with a sanguine glint to it's edge as the sunlight reflected off of it...

The horror then erected his posture, stepping towards him as if he were still a person, now showing intention and will in it's smooth motions. It walked, and yet, it moved impossibly fast. "Corpse Step." It gurgled, in it's half-human, half-dead voice of rotten chords and fetid vocal muscles. In a sickly blast of thick yellowed fog the warrior vanished, and the wall nearest to Kenji was smashed to bits as he appeared next to it, slamming his fist through the structure. He was not far from him, and it seemed as if the zombie had made a mistake, perhaps not used to the motion of the flash step. He'd vanished in an instant; and when he had, that same fog had concealed his motions somehow, while spreading out a rotten gas that stung the lungs of those who had the misfortune of breathing it... so this was the source of that grim fog.

He turned the side of his face to Kenji, showing an exposed cheekbone, as maggots crawled across it's foggy grey eye... the worms latched onto the sphere, pulling it and rotating it to glare at him in the apparent lack of muscles in that damaged eye socket. Slowly, a green hand pointed at the shinigami.... "Fight... you... now." It demanded, clutching it's blade so tightly the tendons and muscles in it's arm bulged to dangerous extents, looking as if they were about to snap at any second...

The smell as he approached the training ground triggered in his memory, both from his afterlife…and when he was alive. The smell of the crimson liquid of life that once flowed like alcohol at a tavern or party, this alone put Kenji on guard. His right hand moved down from the pommel of his zanpakuto, fingers curling to clutch the mouth of the weapons sheath.

‘I can sense it too Kenji.’ The hissing voice of his companion echoed in his head.

“That smell, I’d never mistake that smell. Someone has been attacked. Stay alert Tenryu I want you on lookout” Kenji ordered and started looking around himself.

‘Of course Kenji, I know my role in battle’ His companion spoke back, ready to call out anything that threatened Kenji’s safety.

It wasn’t until the wall in front of him was hit that he reacted, knee’s bending just slightly before he pushed off the wall sky bound. Tossing his body to his left side subsequently doing a cart wheel in midair, and once he landed on his feet in the middle of the walkway he looked at the man behind the odd voice.Though he didn’t seem fazed by the man’s appearance on the surface, inside he had an uneasy feeling about this man.

‘Fight…you…now’ was uttered and the first thing that came to Kenji’s mind was ‘Oh great’ He was not looking for a real fight today…but for some reason they always seemed to find him. Was he just unlucky? Or was fate telling him something? Kenji did not move much, but his eyes narrowed. Amber yellow tint starting to seep into his Iris’s swallowing the Onyx whole.

“If it’s a fight you want….it will be you’re….next funeral.”

He did a quick assessment, mainly the body’s condition and the weapon carried. The sanguine liquid dripping from the edge of the blade, which was going to be an obstacle, the next thing was going to be forming a strategy to get in close enough to finish this quickly and not give him the chance to use that strength. So Kenji was going to have to rely on his speed to get him out of trouble here.

His right hand reached across his torso as skinny fingers curled around the hilt of Tenryu. Ready to free his companion at a moment’s notice, he was relaxed unlike the behemoth before him. All tension in his muscles where gone, his body ready to react to anything the man in front of him could launch his way.

“Well, what are you waiting for? You’re arm to fall off?” Maybe not the best thing to do, goad the creature looking to end his life into attacking, after all how intelligent could it be? He couldn’t formulate a proper battle strategy without finding this piece of information out…he just had to survive long enough to find an opening in which he could kill this creature in one swift stroke.

All Kenji knew, was that his calm and cold demeanor as well as his talent in zanjutsu were about to be put to the test here. A deep breath was taken, and one final preparation for the coming attack needed to be made. A slight twist of his wrist to bring the sheathed zanpakuto to an angle, so that the cutting edge of the blade was pointing to his left, so that when he drew he could attack without adjusting, but by now the amber gold tint had completely overtaken his iris giving them a cold, eerie, and frightening look to them…but that wouldn’t really affect an undead now would it?

There was now only one word to say to the creature in front of him…and that word was. “Come”
